Restaurant week kicks off in WNY
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The second year of restaurant week in Western New York is underway.
This year 175 local restaurants are participating. That’s about 40 more than last year.
Diners can enjoy a variety of cuisines for a little over $20 ordering off of a limited menu. Restaurants vary from steak houses, italian, to some of the most expensive in the city.
Organizers say restaurant week is designed to highlight area businesses and keep revenues local.
“The locally owned restaurant is a pillar of the community and the revenues from the local independents are recirculated through the economy at five times greater than when money is spent at the chain restaurants,” said Peter Longo, President of the WNY Chapter of the New York State Restaurant Association.
Restaurant week runs until Saturday night. For a list of participating restaurants go to our website visit the Western New York Local Restaurant Week website..
