PEMBROKE, N.Y. -- A onetime mayoral candidate from Genesee County will stand trial for murder.
Scott Doll appeared in Genesee County Court Tuesday morning.
Doll is charged with murder for the beating death of his business partner, Joseph Benaquist. Benaquist’s body was found in his driveway in Pembroke in February of 2009.
Doll's lawyer says his client is not guilty.
"We’ve not asked for a plea. They’ve not offered a plea. We’re trying the case. My client is not guilty. We're ready to have that result occur at the trial so we're ready to go," said Paul Cambria, Doll’s attorney.
Doll's trial is scheduled to begin May third. He remains free on bail.
