BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown kicked off the Gateway Reconstruction Project Thursday afternoon.
The project calls for new granite curbs, improved street lighting and a new drainage system from the foot of Porter Avenue by LaSalle Park to Niagara Street.
The $3 million project will also include an upgraded waterfront observation site.
"This is an international gateway from Canada into Buffalo and we certainly want to make sure we beautify it," Mayor Brown said.
Phase one of reconstruction is expected to be finished by the winter. The entire project is set to wrap up next spring.
