BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The community activist, who convinced the accused City Grill mass shooter to turn him in, did the same early Wednesday morning.
East Side Redevelopment Task Force Director Darnell Jackson turned himself in at Buffalo Police headquarters around five a.m. after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
He's accused of intimidating a witness in an incident not related to the City Grill mass shooting.
Jackson said it was a misunderstanding between people he knew. He says he’s being targeted by police.
"They had a family dispute, and I tried to mediate, and of course when the Buffalo Police heard my name they showed their real colors," said Jackson. "They keep saying there are gangs running around in Buffalo, but the biggest gang is wearing blue, and it’s not the Crips, it's the cops."
Jackson says he expects to be exonerated once his side of the story is heard.
