Buffalo, N.Y.-- It was a hero’s welcome for local soldier back from Iraq. Adam Claybolt returned home on leave after serving abroad for the past year.
A welcome party was organized by the Buffalo Chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America. Claybolt's mother is a member and contacted the organization. Claybolt says the welcome was unexpected and overwhelming.
“It was definitely something different,” said SPC Adam Claybolt. “It was nice to see everybody here, didn't think or expect all that but it was definitely one of the best feelings I've ever had.”
“As one of our mom's put it. We send one child over and we get thousands back. So we truly become part of a larger family in the military,” said Catherine Chapman, who is a member of NY7 Buffalo Niagara Chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America
Claybolt and his family were escorted home by the New York State Patriot Guard Riders.
