BUFFALO, N.Y -- Senator Bill Stachowski has received the backing of the colleagues of one of his democratic opponents.

Six Erie County Legislators joined Stachowski in buffalo Wednesday to endorse the incumbent in the 58th state senate race.

The legislators chose Stachowski over fellow Democratic Erie County Legislator Tim Kennedy.

Lynn Marinelli, Maria Whyte, Betty Jean Grant, Daniel Kozub, Tom Loughran and Tom Mazur say Stachowski's determination and ability to get things done in Albany made him the easy choice.

"People say that this might hurt me by endorsing him, but I think he's the most qualified and sincere candidate that's there," said Kozub (D – Lackawanna).

Responding to his colleague’s endorsement of Stachowski, Kennedy issued this statement: "I work for Western New Yorkers, not the party bosses who coaxed legislators into making this endorsement. This endorsement is a direct result of my refusal to fall in line and keep my mouth shut."
