BUFFALO, N.Y. -- After several rallies were held in opposition to a Buffalo News article that listed the criminal history of seven of the eight City Grill shooting victims, the editor of The Buffalo News listened to members of the African- American community express their dismay at the paper.

The community meeting happened at True Bethel Baptist Church on East Ferry St. Wednesday. It was moderated by Pastor Darius Pridgen.

The editor, Margaret Sullivan, said she was there to listen and recognized the pain the article caused.

"I am very sorry that the news has caused your pain to be deeper," said Sullivan.

Stopping short of apologizing for publishing the article, Sullivan did say if she were making a decision today about the article that caused so much pain, it would have been "substantially different."
