The northbound South Grand Island Bridge will be closed periodically over the next two weeks for a major aspect of the bridge’s rehab project.
Officials from the New York State Thruway Authority say the span will be closed from the evening of Friday, September 17 to the morning of Monday, September 20 so can contractors can pour concrete on the deck.
During the closure, the southbound span of the bridge will be converted to one-lane traffic in each direction.
The project is scheduled to be completed in November.
