BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A Buffalo Board of Education member is keeping her position despite controversy over where she lives.
The board met in executive session during their meeting Wednesday night to discuss the status of East District representative Vivian Evans' seat.
According to Board President Ralph Hernandez, parents in her district are concerned about Evans working and living in Baltimore Maryland.
Evans would not comment on her job or living situation...but says she maintains a residence in her district and will continue doing the job she was elected for.
"I'm accessible to my constituents 24-7. 24 hours, 7 days a week like I've always been. Nothing's changed," said Evans.
"There's a lot of work here, we spend many, many hours besides the hours we spend here working on issues every day, visiting schools, talking to constituents, solving problems. Many of these board members take their job very seriously and they're very committed every day. So to say you can do this job from another city, from another state, I don't see that possible," said Hernandez.
Hernandez says following the advice of the board's legal counsel, they will not be acting on the issue at this time.
As president, he has the option to appoint an investigative committee about the matter, but hasn't decided whether he will do so.
