BUFFALO, N.Y. — A department store chain has made a donation to Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo.
Western New York Kohl's department stores and their shoppers raised nearly $170,000 through their Kohl's Care for Kids programs.
The hospital will use the funds to fight childhood obesity through outreach and educational efforts, focusing on the benefits of physical activity and healthy eating habits.
The hospital outreach staff plans to visit day care centers, schools, health fairs, and other community events.
"They talk about all the things that go in to that, be it exercise, nutrition, and watching what you eat, because if you start a child at an early age, they're going to have those values their whole life," said Lisa Latrovato, WCHB Sr. Development Associate.
Kohl's has donated more than $700,000 to the hospital since 2006.
