Holiday love dished out at Christian center
BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Buffalo Dream Center and Hearts For The Homeless teamed up to serve a hot meal Monday
The event was held at the Buffalo Christian Center after a month of collecting donations and had more than 300 guests.
The event included live music, a theatrical performance, food giveaways and a full turkey dinner served by volunteers from across Western New York. This was the result of more than 1,000 volunteers from seven states and Canada who collected food items and wrapped gifts for those less fortunate as a part of the Boxes Of Love drive.
"We just want to make it an event that people come to they look forward to it," said Eric Johns, pastor of the Buffalo Dream Center. "It could be June or July and I'll be walking through downtown and I'll have homeless guys walking up to me say 'pastor you gonna do the meal on Christmas Eve?' So it's something that people look forward to and we are happy to provide that for folks."
Boxes of Love has been going for 13 years. More than 2,000 families will receive donations this holiday season.
