SILVER CREEK, N.Y. — The undefeated Silver Creek Black Knights key to winning is to have fun playing basketball. That fun comes from their "run and gun" style that has the Knights racking up more than 80 points per game.
Rob Genco - They don't care who scores 20, it is whoever has the open shot. They are very unselfish," said head coach Rob Genco.
The unselfishness shines through on defense. Silver Creek prides themselves on holding their opposition to 55 points per game.
"Defense wins ball games so we try to get turnovers and lead to the fast break and that's what starts it," said senior guard Stephen Marci.
"It starts with defense. We get to the fast break and calm it down and then shoot and it goes down most of the time," said sophomore center Billy Brooks.
"It starts with defense. We know other teams have studs and it is up to us to make sure they don't get 20 or 25 points against us," said senior forward Zed Williams.
The Black Knights have already locked up the league championship. They boast the number two ranking in Class C in the state, and they are just two wins away from a perfect regular season, but they know none of that matter come playoff time, as everyone stars 0-0.
"We have won the division, the undefeated is a bonus, but it is over if we lose it's done. The magical season and what everyone is talking about is over," said Genco.
