Democratic Committee Party Chair Jeremy Zellner says the party is looking for men and women with a background in law enforcement and an interest in public service. He says the party wants a candidate who will put public safety before politics.

Potential candidates have until February 28th to apply.

Republican Tim Howard serves as the current sheriff.
