State reaches agreement with United University Professions
Governor Cuomo has announced the state has reached a tentative contract agreement with the United University Professions union.
The union represents more than 35,000 SUNY employees who have been without a contract since 2011.
Under the terms of the contract, members will not see a raise for the years between 2011 and 2013, but will get a two percent raise in both 2014 and 2015.
They'll also have to take part in a nine-day deficit reduction plan, similar to a furlough. All employees will also pay more for health insurance.
The state budget office says the agreement will save more than $180 million over the contract term.
UUP members will vote on the contract in the spring.
