Many Rochester Amerks fans are also Buffalo Sabres fans, and a number of them sounded off on Ruff's firing and the sudden move of the Amerks' head coach to Buffalo.

Amerks fans attending Wednesday night's game were all talking about the big news. They say the decision to fire Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff was a good decision and a long time overdue.

"It's a good move. They needed to make a change in the organization. Ruff's been around fifteen years, I liked him, he played here briefly, good community man in Buffalo, but business is business - he's paid to win," said Kevin Martin, Amerk fan.

While Ruff was described as a very likeable coach, fans describe the Sabres as a stale and lifeless team in need of major motivation.

"Boring. Guys don't really seem to be skating as hard as they could be," said AJ Robertson.

As the Amerks played the Texas Stars on Wednesday night, their head coach Ron Rolston was in Buffalo preparing the Sabres for their next game.

Fans say they aren't worried about Rolston's focus being taken away from the Amerks. Fans are just looking to have two winning teams in the area to root for.

"Everybody was really looking forward to this season. Not to mention you go through the lockout, wait eight months to see this. They got their fair deal and we kind of got the shaft on it."
