BUFFALO, N.Y. -- As Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula celebrated his 60th birthday Sunday, some Buffalo Sabres fans showed up at HSBC arena to wish him well.
A flash-mob of about 30 people appeared at noon Sunday inside the arena to sing Pegula happy birthday.
Pegula himself wasn’t there at the time, but it didn’t stop the group from performing several vocal renditions of the song.
"Someone tweeted that it would be a great idea if we all came and sang happy birthday to Terry,” said singer Mike Walker.
“It was kind of a spur of the moment [thing], everyone kind of showed up, and we sang for him. It was great.”
Participants said they wanted to give Pegula something back after he gave fans new hope when he purchased the Sabres earlier this year.
