BUFFALO, N.Y. — Local medical leaders broke ground Thursday on a new facility at Rowell Park Cancer Institute.
The $40 million, 11-story Clinical Sciences Center expands the hospital's chemotherapy and breast cancer screening and treatment facilties.
Roswell president & CEO Donald Trump says the center will allow Roswell to perform 10,000 more mammograms each year.
More than 60 percent of the funding for the first phase of construction came from charitable donations.
"We continue to raise money for the second phase of this building, to provide the inside outfitting for the floors and spaces inside," Trump said.
Trump says the hospital still needs to raise $8 million to $10 million.
The center is expected to open by 2015.
