JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Jamestown City Councilman Michael Taylor has decided not to seek a fifth term leaving Democrats to look for a Ward 3 candidate for November's election.
Taylor has served on the council for eight years. The seat was held by his grandfather, Vivian Taylor, for 24 years.
While his decision was mainly for career reasons, Taylor said last year's legal trouble surrounding a DWI also played a role in his decision.
"Through the things I'm doing now I hope to bring that respect back to our family, back to this community," said Michael Taylor, D-Jamestown City Council Ward 3. "And even though I'm not serving, I won't be serving as the councilman after this year, I'm still going to be involved in this community."
The councilman said he will focus on his other endeavors such as his Kickball Versus Cancer charity.
