Republican small business owner David DiPietro defeated Democatic community activist Christina Abt. He will now represent southern Erie County and now Wyoming County because of redistricting.

"Main priorities are to get the budget under control and to keep people here because everyone is leaving New York State. We have to stop the brain drain," said David DiPietro, (R).

DiPietro says he has a proven track record from his tenure as East Aurora mayor with cutting taxes and downsizing government.
