Pitchers and catchers are required to report to spring training on February 20th, but plenty of players are already back at work down south - and that includes many of the Bisons at Mets camp in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

Former Bison Daniel Murphy hoping to have a big year at second base for the Mets. He had the 6th-highest batting average in the National League before a knee injury cut his season short last August.

After playing a variety of positions, Murphy is focusing solely on second base at this point in Spring Training.

"It feels nice sometimes, but I'm excited to focus on one this year. With spring training, I'll be able to get as consistent as I can over the next month and a half," said Murphy.

"He has those abilities and now he's tackling second base. It's a work in progress, but it's a good thing because he's a good student, he communicates and he talks and he's going to get better," said Tim Teufel, the Bisons' former coach, now on the Mets' staff.
