Following a hit from behind at the hands of Toronto enforcer Mike Brown, Patrick Kaleta suffered a neck injury and was sent to the hospital for precautionary reasons. The team confirmed Wednesday, that the energetic winger spent the night in the hospital.

"Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta spent last night in the hospital and was released earlier today," the team said in a statement Wednesday. "Currently he’s at home and will not be traveling to Boston for the team’s game against the Bruins tomorrow night."

One of the positive moments of Thursday night's game came in the third period, as Mikhail Grigorenko notched his first NHL goal. For the 18 year old Russian, it was the culmination of an up and down night. The game began with him logging a minus three rating, but ended with that first goal.

"Things really didn't work well for me," Grigorenko said of his early troubles. "In the third period, Lindy put me on the ice and I started to play really good. I thought the third period was really good, and I scored a goal. It took away all the pressure and everything. After this goal, I was playing really easier than before."

"I've talked with him before, at length about this process, and developing, and growth," Lindy Ruff said of Grigorenko's transition to the NHL. "There's going to be pain. And I'm going to feel pain. And he's going to feel pain. But as an organization, we feel that he can grow and help us win. He helped us get a point (Tuesday night)."

The Sabres faceoff with the Bruins Thursday at 7:00.
