With a New Contract, More Expected From McKelvin

With a New Contract, More Expected From McKelvin
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - We're getting close to decision time for the Bills and all NFL teams. Free agents can begin signing with new teams on Tuesday afternoon. That means Andy Levitre may be finding a new home.

We'll see who the Bills target, but in the meantime the team has made sure that Leodis McKelvin isn't going anywhere. The cornerback signed his new, four-year $20 million contract on Monday.

He made his biggest mark as punt return man last year, but new coach Doug Marrone said the Bills are expecting him to compete for the starting cornerback spot - opposite Stephon Gilmore, and play an important role on defense.

"I see myself being able to go out there and compete for the starting spot," McKelvin said. "Contracts say what they say, but I am just going out there competing, doing what I have to do to compete and make this team be better. New start; new beginning. Got a new coaching staff coming through. This is my third coaching staff coming through here and a new chance to show my talent."

McKelvin was happy to continue his career with the team that drafted him.

"This was the only offer I was really looking into," he continued. "They did a good job of coming after me and did a good job of doing it before the deadline of whenever the teams could talk to me. Buffalo was always the place I wanted to be. It was like a no-brainer for me to come back."
