JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A bartering group held their annual holiday trade show at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena in Jamestown Thursday evening.

Western New York Barter is the largest bartering network in Upstate New York, where businesses share goods and services by trading instead of paying cash.

The way it works is if a member sees something they want, they pay with a trade voucher and then that business can trade for something else.

The show itself was a barter between the catering service, the arena and the barter group.

Members say it is a program worth participating in because they can save money and promote their business.

"The best thing is they get to buy stuff for the cost of their goods, so if they've got a decent profit margin then they're actually buying stuff cheaper than they could ever buy it with cash," said Mark Johnson, CEO of WNY Barter.

Every month, Western New York Barter holds a networking mixer for businesses to talk about barter or other business ideas.
