Silver Creek man turns himself in after deadly car crash
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, N.Y. — A man being sought by authorities following a deadly one car accident has turned himself in to the Chautauqua County District Attorney's Office.
Jeremiah Burgess, 22, of Silver Creek turned himself in Friday afternoon.
Jeremy Long, 22, of Silver Creek was killed on Route 5 in the town of Hanover early Thursday morning. Long was a passenger in a car, driven by Burgess.
Investigators believe Burgess lost control, the car landed in a ditch, and he left the scene.
Investigators say speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
The District Attorney's office says formal charges are pending.

As YNN's Mark Goshgarian tells us, when emergency crews arrived, the passenger was dead, and the driver was nowhere to be found."The car was still in the ditch when I arrived, the victim that was deceased, was in the car," said Joseph Gerace, (D), Chautauqua County Sheriff.
Chautauqua County Sheriff Joe Gerace says 22-year-old Jeremy Long of Silver Creek was killed in the crash on Route 5 early Thursday morning.
Long was a passenger in a car driven by 22-year-old Jeremiah Burgess. Investigators believe Burgess lost control, the car landed in a ditch, and he fled the scene.
"We had our accident reconstruction team here, based on the marks on the road and the damage to the vehicle, it was not a slow speed collision," said Gerace.
Gerace says speed and alcohol played a role in the crash. Investigators are waiting for autopsy results and toxicology reports.
"It's still under investigation, my role primarily at this point is to make sure that we uh, collect the evidence, whatever evidence we can collect in a proper way," said David Foley, (R), Chautauqua County D.A.
