CHEEKTOWAGA, NY-- Thanksgiving dinner may be right around the corner, but one Cheektowaga woman is trying to perfect a different main dish: the classic sandwich.

Kristi Griebner is one of 20 finalists competing in TLC and Panera Bread's Sandwich Showdown. It's all part of search to find the next best menu item for the restaurant. Griebner's creation...the Honey Crisp features smoked turkey, honey walnut cream cheese, apples, lettuce and honey...all on honey wheat bread. Griebner said that her sandwich is a mix of some of her favorite foods growing up.

Griebner said, "A turkey sandwich with lettuce is just kind of been my favorite, not favorite thing but it's something that I've liked growing up, and I love honey and sweet stuff, and apples and I just kind of threw it all together and ...voila".
