ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — A celebration of "Barksgiving" on Saturday in Orchard Park. It was an event for dog lovers to get together for some fun but to also deliver a serious message.

Owners of pitbulls, many of them rescues, came out to Chestnut Ridge Park for what they called a mutt strut: 3.2 miles of canine and human socializing.

But the group Educate a Bull also set up an area where people could learn about dog fighting.

They showed some of the tools dog fight trainers use to anger and incite a pitbull to violence. Volunteers say these dogs are made into killers.

Lynn Browarek is a volunteer with Educate a Bull. She says these dogs are made into killers.

"We have a fighting booth that show how people do train these dogs to fight and kill other animals, other dogs, they use other dogs for bait for those pitbulls to attack. So we want to educate people that pitbulls are not bad dogs they're just trained to be very bad," Browarek said.

Money raised at Mutt Strut will benefit the organization Educate a Bull.
