ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Some local Girl Scouts are trying to make the holidays a little sweeter for injured troops stationed overseas.

Wednesday, seven-year-old Meghan Reiman and Troop #909 went door to door asking Orchard Park residents to donate cookies to send to injured soldiers.

Meghan got the idea after her neighbor, Dr. Larry Bone, left for Afghanistan in July.
Dr. Bone, an orthopedic surgeon, was commissioned after a shortage of doctors left military hospitals in need. The cookies will go to both doctors and soldiers at three hospitals in Afghanistan.

"I just thought it would be cool if I just did it so Dr. Bones' troops could feel better," said Meghan.

"It's really wonderful what these young ladies our doing for our troops and our soldiers," said Dr. Bone

Meghan and her troop are sending close to 300 boxes in time for the holidays.
