Mohawk Place to close in the new year
One of Buffalo's best-known underground music venues is shutting its doors.
Managers at Mohawk Place announced on Facebook that the concert hall is closing January 12th.
The East Mohawk Street venue has been open 1990 and hosted shows by nationally known acts like the White Stripes, the Donnas and Snapcase.
The Facebook announcement said, in part, "None of us will forget the friendships made and the great music all of us have witnessed over the many, many years. With the sadness comes a little bit of joy that we still have time left to go to shows, and time to share how important this place is to so many people."
Venue management declined further comment.
