First lake effect snow hits Western New York

By: Paul Lane

Western New Yorkers got the first snowfall of the season this weekend, with lake effect flurries reinforcing Old Man Winter's presence.
The Northtowns only saw an inch or two Sunday, but parts of the Southtowns saw up to 5 inches.
And the Southern Tier was largely spared Sunday but got upwards of seven inches the day before.
And the snow created a bit of chaos on the roads..
The Niagara County Sheriff's Office reported four accidents in one hour Sunday night on bridges in and around Pendleton.
The snow was set to taper off by morning, but not without dropping another one to three inches.
In the meantime, officials remind drivers to drive with caution, as sub-freezing temperatures could create slick conditions.
