Former Jamestown police detective officially charged
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A former Jamestown police detective accused of stealing painkillers from the evidence room has officially been charged in the case.

The Chautauqua County District Attorney says Eric Corey is facing one count of official misconduct; a misdemeanor charge.

Additionally, both Jamestown City Court judges have recused themselves from the case.

The DA says an internal investigation revealed that over the course of several months, Corey took painkillers from several bags while in charge of the evidence room.

Corey resigned back in September after the allegations surfaced. He was with the department for 14 years.
