Congressman Brian Higgins is scheduled to make an announcement on the subject.

He's said he wants to eliminate the Skyway, calling on the DOT to put the brakes on long-term projects that are estimated to cost more than $100 million over the next 20 years.

Higgins says some alternatives to the Skyway include an expanded Ohio Street corridor or a bridge linking the inner and outer harbors.
