City prepares for snow with new equipment
The first snowflakes of year flew this past weekend in the City of Buffalo, and the city wants both drivers and residents to know they're ready for whatever comes their way. YNN's Antoinette DelBel has more on the additional equipment that will be used to fight the snow this season.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Inside the Broadway Garage in Buffalo Tuesday, city officials surrounded themselves with snow plows to deliver a message.
"Whatever Mother Nature might bring this year, we are ready for it in the City of Buffalo," said Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.
City officials said Buffalo is more than prepared for the snow this winter after buying a handful of new plows and three highlifts.
"These new additions increase the city's total winter fleet to 72 pieces of equipment," said Brown.
The city spent $1.1 million on big plows and small ones, making it easier to get down narrower streets.
"It really gives us the flexibility to move snow and fight snow in different areas," said Brown.
Buffalo Public Works Commissioner Steve Stepniak agreed.
"Having that diversity makes you much more effective to handle whatever comes your way," said Stepniak.
And because of last year's mild winter, the city was able to save money that would typically be spent on salt.
"We still have approximately 11,000 tons of salt currently in stock," said Brown.
City officials said they've also hired more snow plow drivers to work around the clock when the snow piles up.
