Men charged for copper theft
CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — Two men are in jail and police are looking for three other suspects in connection with the Thanksgiving day theft of copper wiring and pipes from a former NFTA building.

NFTA police say 41-year-old David Cummings and 23-year-old William Bartelbaugh Junior, both of Clarence, face several charges including burglary and grand larceny in connection with the theft of copper from the former NFTA facility located at 195 Holtz Street near Aero Drive in Cheektowaga.

The building is slated for demolition as part of a parking lot expansion project.

Both suspects were arraigned in Cheektowaga Town Court and are being held at the Erie County Holding Center pending further charges.

NFTA detectives say the incident is still under investigation.
