"And his wife kind of started chuckling and she said you can't name it Tinkle bell, like it has a double meaning," said Jenny Ingrao, Seneca Salamanca Chamber of Commerce Events Manager.

So he changed it.

"Silver Bells, Silver Bells, its Christmas time in the city..."

It soon will be in the city of Salamanca, as the Chamber of Commerce gets set to ring in its tenth annual Silver Bells Festival on Monday.

"And we do hold it in honor of Ray Evans, he is a local native to Salamanca and he's actually the famous lyricist for the song Silver Bells," said Ingrao.

This years festival includes the lighting of the city, a craft show, a theater performance and breakfast with Santa.

"It does bring a lot of families together. I think sometimes people forget there's a lot going on here and this is something we are able to do, there's events going on every weekend in the month of December so its nice we have that," said Ingrao.

"Anything that attracts people to our city to see what we have to offer is a great thing," said Michael Zaprowski, Hampshire Mills Owner.

Michael Zaprowski, owner of Hampshire Mills in the city, says the festival has a positive impact on the local economy.

"We hope it brings more people in, we think it does...hopefully, they'll spend more time, enjoy themselves and comeback and support the restaurants, and all the other facilities in town also," said Zaprowski.

"Soon it will be Christmas Day..."

The festival wraps up at the end of the month.
