ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills and American Red Cross teamed up Tuesday to host the annual blood drive at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Hundreds of donors gave blood at the event, which featured giveaways, refreshments and appearances by Bills players.

The team also raffled off 300 pairs of tickets to donors in attendance.

Red Cross officials say blood donations are always welcome during the holiday season.

"Donating blood makes a huge difference. There is no substitute for human blood and when you donate you can save up to three lives, so I mean how can you not say that's an important thing," said Mary Grupka, American Red Cross Blood Services District Director.

The Red Cross says it always seeks donations. Someone in the United States needs blood about every two seconds.
