NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Firefighters in Niagara Falls spent most of the day fighting a fire at a former industrial site.
A Niagara Falls fire chief tells us the fire started in a pile of old scrap wood on College Avenue just before 4 a.m. Friday. The site is not currently used by any business other than for a scrap area.
No one was hurt, and firefighters spent around 12 hours breaking up the pile to slowly put out the flames.
"A little difficult around here; unfortunately, the hydrants are few and far between out here," said Battalion Chief Patrick Brown.
Investigators are trying to figure out how the fire started.
