WEST SENECA, N.Y. — American Legion Post 735 in West Seneca held a memorial service Friday afternoon honoring the lives lost in the Pearl Harbor attack.

Two local veterans who survived the attacks were the guests of honor.

Earl Wickett says while he can remember the attack like it was yesterday, and it still hurts to know what was lost as a result.

"I don't think about it too much. I lost a lot of guys that were just like brothers to me that I was with for four years," he said.

The Japanese sank or severely damaged 18 ships and destroyed 161 planes in the attack on Pearl Harbor.
