Tips to police helped them catch a man who they believe slammed into a restaurant in the Town of Darien last week, then took off.

Nathaniel Beglinger, 21, of Alexander was charged with reckless driving and leaving a scene of property damage.

Genesee County Sheriff's Deputies say he was driving too fast and spun out, hitting the side of the Johnny Bear Restaurant.

Deputies say Beglinger was going to lie to the insurance company by saying that the damage to his truck came from hitting a tree on another road.

Beglinger is set to appear in Darien town court on the 18th.
