Who for the second year in a row, won't be home for Christmas.

"Last year, my other son was in Afghanistan, he will be home this year," said Collver.

But next year, he'll be back in Afghanistan.

"It's the pits, it really is the pits, we're very proud of our kids in the military, we're very happy that they're doing what they feel they want to do and need to do, and that's great, but yeah, its a very difficult time emotionally," said Collver.

Collver is with the Blue Star Mothers, a group of women with family members serving in the military.

Susan Rowley's son was deployed four times in the last seven years.

"We've had Christmases without him, Thanksgivings, and its heartbreaking for a Mom and their families to know that their children are in danger for the holidays," said Susan Rowley, Blue Star Mothers Chapter President.

To help share the holiday spirit, the group boxed about 4-hundred care packages to send to troops overseas.

Items were donated from the community, and include snacks like chips and candy, as well as toothbrushes and toothpaste.

"We're sending them a little love and support and honor from Chautauqua County," said Rowley.

"Yeah, a little taste of home, so they know we're thinking of them, which we really are, I mean in a huge way," said Collver.

Volunteers were at the Kiantone Congregational Church over the weekend to gather the last load.

"This is just kinda something to give back to those who give for me, those who do things for me, like they're fighting for me, so I need to do something, to do something for them to give back," said Kazzi Leeper, Jamestown Resident.

Which leaves Collver grateful for the community support.

"I think this is America at its best," said Collver.

The packages are expected to be delivered in time for Christmas.
