State AG's Office suing FWS
BUFFALO, N.Y. — State officials are suing a former Buffalo-based furniture company.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has filed a lawsuit against FWS on behalf of customers he says made advance payments but never received their furniture or a refund.
When FWS closed its doors in October, Schneiderman says it had about 700 open orders where customers made $420,000 in advance payments.
Since then, some customers have received their furniture or stopped payments made by credit cards. But Schneiderman says other consumers stand to lose between $160,000 and $250,000.
His office has requested a temporary restraining order preventing FWS from transferring funds or destroying business records.
