BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Board Education met Wednesday night as the deadline nears to secure about $50 million for the district.

Board member Ralph Hernandez says he's still confident the district will meet the January 17th deadline set by the state to approve a teacher evaluation plan. He says the superintendent and the union have been negotiating on a regular basis.

Part of the issue is continuing litigation between the two parties over teacher transfers.

"It is the third year where school improvement grants have been somewhat in jeopardy, but we've been able to clear the hurdle in the past and I suggest we'll be able to do so this time," Hernandez said.

Hernandez says the board expects to have all the information needed to make a decision on evaluations by the next meeting on January 2nd.
