WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. — Williamsville officials continued their fight to get Thruway toll barriers out of the village.

Mayor Brian Kulpa and village trustees discussed future pleas to Thruway officials during Monday's board meeting.

Kulpa says Williamsville officials want to decrease traffic in the village, and removal of the barrier would help make Main Street more livable. The mayor says vehicles would have no need to travel through the village if the barrier were removed.

"We think that moving that toll barrier would give people a high speed option to circumvent the center of the village with the truck traffic or their commuter volumes," said Kulpa.

More than 40,000 vehicles travel on Main Street every day, village officials say.
