Niagara County budget passes
Niagara County lawmakers worked late into the night approving the 2013 budget.
The $321 million spending plan includes a 1.2 percent property tax rate increase.
The budget passed the 15-member Niagara County Legislature by a 10 to 5 vote.
The 2013 budget includes a freeze in pay raises for Niagara county employees, and eliminates forty county positions through privatization and restructuring. The budget reduces the size of county government to just under 1,400 full-time positions.
