Buffalo parents' group distributes holiday toys

By: Paul Lane

Christmas will be brighter for many local families thanks to the efforts of a local non-violence organization.
The F.A.T.H.E.R.S. Group held a toy distribution event Saturday at the Lydie Wright School of Excellence on Appenheimer Avenue.
The group gathered toys and food throughout the year to distribute to more than 2,000 families in need this Christmas.
Organizers say there are a lot of children in the city in need of a break.
"A lot of them right now have experienced high unemployment, maybe high crime in their neighborhoods, perhaps not a father in the family. But this brings so much joy to the families in the city of Buffalo," said Leonard Lane, the group's president.
This was the 12th year the group has run a toy drive.
Contributions are still welcome.
