WESTERN NEW YORK -- A former Buffalo box making factory and 180-year-old Ellicottville home are among five local sites nominated to the State and National Registers of Historic Places.

The nominations were announced by the State Board for Historic Preservation.

Twenty-five sites were nominated statewide.

Sites named to the register receive federal help in preservation efforts.
