BUFFALO, N.Y. — The babies born on New Year's Day at Millard Fillmore Hospital got an extra gift. New Year's babies at the two Kaleida hospitals will receive a Sabres blanket and certificate.

The blankets have a 13 on them and read "we live hockey." The certificates proclaim the children "future first round draft pick" and feature the signature of Sabres owner Terry Pegula.

Sabres officials say that proclamation may just become reality for someone.

"With the depth of the number of players we do get from Western New York, that wouldn't surprise me in eighteen years that we are calling somebody's name," said Ted Black, Sabres President.

This effort is a partnership between Kaleida and the Sabres to promote hockey in the area.
