The S.E.N.S.E.S. Foundation held its first ever "Heart Beat of Buffalo" Awards gala to honor individuals making a difference in Buffalo.

Hundreds came to the Hyatt Regency on Tuesday night for the event, which featured a silent auction, dinner and dancing.

S.E.N.S.E.S. was founded by Doctors Lloyd Brown and Curlane Jones-Brown and specializes in assisting Buffalo youths with educational pursuits and general well-being. Dr. Lloyd Brown said he and his wife wanted to help the community.

"In the end, what we would like to do is to identify certain areas and weaknesses that are influencing our kids and actually preventing them from graduating from school," he said.

S.E.N.S.E.S. stands for Sane mind, Education, Nutrition and health, Social skills, Economics and entrepreneurs, and Social responsibility.
