'Problem bar' in sights of Police Commissioner following New Year's shooting
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Police Commissioner Dan Derenda spoke out against the recent streak of violence in the entertainment district following a shooting early New Year's Day.

Nineteen-year-old Horace Miller was shot after a fight broke out around 3 a.m. Tuesday inside Social nightclub on Franklin Street.

This is the second time in the past year the club has been closed after an incident involving a minor. Commissioner Derenda called Social a "problem bar" and says the city has contacted the State Liquor Authority.

"We have the city attorneys involved. We're looking to try to shut Social down. I believe it's been a problem bar and we're going to do what we can to rid our entertainment district of problem bars," he said.

Police say 21-year-old Chemere Barclay of Buffalo was arrested a short time after the shooting. He's charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
