BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo legend spread some late holiday cheer at the Ronald McDonald House Thursday.

Former Buffalo Bills guard and nine-time Pro-bowler Ruben Brown dropped off supplies from the Ruben Brown Foundation.

Opened in 1983, the Ronald McDonald House provides a home-away-from-home for families with hospitalized children. The charity relies almost entirely upon donations.

Between visiting families at the house, Brown talked about the Bills coaching search. Brown says he's pulling for former Bears head coach Lovey Smith.

"He inspired me and I came away with some really good life lessons from him," said Brown. "He was young then and he's matured into a really good, solid leader, a leader of men. That's my little soap box for him and I really hope they choose him, but the organization needs to do what's right for them."

Brown played for Smith in Chicago from 2004 to 2007.
