BUFFALO, NY- Buffalo Police say it happened outside the Kings Court restaurant on Delaware Avenue just before three Saturday morning. It started as an altercation inside the restaurant and continued outside. Police say the suspect pulled a gun from his car and shot two men, one of them a security guard.

24-year-old DeMario Castricone is listed in stable condition at ECMC. The security guard was treated and released.

This is the second shooting in the entertainment district this year. On the morning of New Years Day, a 19-year-old was shot outside Social nightclub following a fight inside.

“I think that what we're seeing in, not just the city of Buffalo, NY, but across this country is obviously and increase in gun violence," said Buffalo Common Councilmember Darius Pridgen.

Pridgen believes the shootings here and the recent mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut point to a much bigger problem that has to be dealt with: guns.

"I don't think, personally, that it's simply the amount of guns, I think it is simply the fact that we have so many illegal guns in the hands of irresponsible people," said Pridgen. "For the most part, young men have not been able to effectively learn the art of conflict resolution."

Arlee Daniels of the Stop the Violence Coalition believes guns, coupled with mixed messages about violence in music and movies, is also a factor.

“A lot of 'em believe that, that which they see on TV is how life really is after the camera stops rolling," said Daniels.

Meantime in this latest shooting, police say the suspect fled the scene in a grey Jeep Cherokee. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police at the confidential tipline. That number is 716-847-2255.
